Joan Arakawa, R.D.H

Joan Arakawa, R.D.H., was raised in Orange County and graduated from California State University Fullerton in 1976. She furthered her education at the Interior Designers’ Guild and worked in the field of interior design for nine years. At the urging of her dentist father, Joan returned to college and received her Bachelor of Science Dental Hygiene degree from the U.S.C. School of Dentistry in 1993. After graduation, Joan taught at U.S.C. part time and practiced Dental Hygiene at her father and brother’s dental office. We are delighted Joan moved to Newport Beach and joined our staff.
Joan is an avid dance enthusiast, and practices Pilates and Yoga. She also enjoys design, jewelry making, gardening and her two cats.

 

Stacy Boylan, R.D.H.

Stacy Boylan, R.D.H., was raised locally in Mission Viejo attending El Toro High School. She obtained her dental hygiene education at U.S.C. graduating in 1990 with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene.

After graduation, Stacy received a faculty appointment at U.S.C., teaching part-time in the Dental Hygiene Department. She joined Dr. Eriksmoen’s staff in 1990 and became part of the current staff when the dental practices merged in 1992. In addition, Stacy worked in a periodontal office for the first ten years of her career.

Stacy is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and was appointed by the State of California and volunteered as a recorder for the Dental Hygiene Board exams.

In her recreational time, Stacy and her husband enjoy bicycling, running and skiing. Stacy even qualified and ran in the 2011 Boston Marathon!

 

Marilyn Dickson, R.D.H.

Marilyn Dickson, R.D.H., is originally from Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Yakima Valley College in Washington with an A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene, with full expanded duties, in 1977. She practiced in Yakima for eight years. In 1985, she moved to Newport Beach where she joined a prestigious periodontist’s office.

From 1990 to 1996, Marilyn lived in Singapore and traveled extensively throughout Asia and Europe.

When she is not working, Marilyn enjoys her daily workouts going to the gym, cooking, traveling and skiing. Marilyn and her husband have a second home in Arizona for weekends on the Colorado River. You may also find them on their Harley. She also felt she had too much time and not enough stress and frustration in her life so she took up golf!

 

Lisa Michie, R.D.H.

Lisa Michie, R.D.H., was born and raised in Delano, California. Lisa attended Cal State Long Beach achieving her Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation.

Lisa graduated from Cypress Dental Hygiene College. She actively serves the dental hygiene community with memberships in the California, Orange County, and American Dental Hygiene Association.

Lisa, and her husband of 30 years, enjoy surfing and have been traveling to Nicaragua for warm water and sunshine.

 

Diane Millar, R.D.H., M.A.

Diane Millar, R.D.H., M.A., joined our staff in 1997 as a Dental Hygienist. She is a native Californian and currently resides in Newport Coast. Diane worked as a Registered Dental Assistant prior to becoming a Hygienist. She studied dental hygiene at the West Los Angeles College program and graduated in 1981. She then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science: Health Care at CSULB and graduated in 1995. Afterwards, Diane went to Graduate School at Pepperdine University and completed a Master’s Degree in Education and Psychology in 1999.

Diane worked as a Clinical Instructor at USC for many years teaching Advanced Instrumentation Techniques to Dental Students as well as Graduate Students in Periodontology. Currently, she is an instructor at West Coast University in the Dental Hygiene Program. Diane has lectured for dental conferences throughout the country and Canada on Advanced Ergonomic Reinforced Instrumentation Techniques. Coupled with her lectures, she has given hands-on Clinical Seminars to Periodontists and Hygienists on Protective Instrumentation Strategies.

Diane had a book published on Reinforced Periodontal Instrumentation and Ergonomics in 2007.

Diane enjoys snow skiing, water skiing, rock climbing and travel with her family.

 

Jade Phan, R.D.H.

Jade Phan, R.D.H., grew up in Garden Grove, CA. Jade obtained her dental hygiene education at Concorde College, graduating in 2012 with an A.S. in dental hygiene.

In her spare time, Jade enjoys hiking, traveling, and snowboarding with her friends and family. She also enjoys trying out new cuisines with friends. Jade loves rooting for the Anaheim Ducks and Angels.

Jade’s goal is to help create beautiful smiles by volunteering in third world countries. She also likes to volunteer with the Special Olympics and Colgate Kids Van.

Anne Overby, R.D.H.

Anne Overby, R.D.H., was born and raised in Long Beach, graduating from Robert A. Millikan High School in 1981. She received her certificate in dental assisting from Long Beach City College and her R.D.A. in 1983. While at Long Beach City College, she was able to take her general education courses and prerequisite courses for dental hygiene. Anne attended the Dental Hygiene program at Cerritos College, graduated in 1988 with an A.S. degree in Dental Hygiene, and joined the staff in 1991. In addition, Anne worked in a periodontal office for the first 10 years of her career.

Anne is very active in her profession. Since 1989, Anne has fulfilled a State of California appointment to help administer the examinations for Registered Dental Hygienists certification.

Anne and her husband, Mike, have two children, Michael and Amanda. Michael is attending San Francisco State University, while Amanda will be starting for her A.A. degree at Cypress Community College. When they have time, the family enjoys going to June Lake for fishing and relaxing. Anne also enjoys walking their dog and reading.
